Ipswich Art Gallery

The Ipswich Art Gallery is located just 40 kilometres west of Brisbane in a restored colonial building in the heart of Ipswich Central Business District. Housed in the old town hall built in the 1860s, the Gallery presents a program of changing exhibitions and heritage displays with complementary special events, limited-season performances, family activities and art workshops. The Ipswich Art Gallery (formerly Global Arts Link) is one of the largest and most visited regional art galleries in Australia.

With several exhibition spaces, the Ipswich Art gallery offers something for everyone from selected national touring exhibitions, works by local artists, highlights from the City of Ipswich Collection, displays of Ipswich's social history and the ever-popular Children's Gallery - Australia first dedicated art gallery for children. Each exhibition in the Children's Gallery is designed to reflect children's interests and provide opportunities for children to make their own art works, discover new ideas, interact with their families and play.

A tour through the Gallery takes approximately 45 minutes, however, leave at least two hours to fully enjoy what's on offer - even more if you are visiting with children.

The Gallery is fully air-conditioned, family friendly and entry is Free. Located in the Central Business District, it is a short walk from Ipswich train station, Ipswich Transit centre and central Ipswich bus stops and handy to a range of restaurants, cafes, eateries and bars.
