Wondai Heritage Museum

A hospital with no waiting list (or doctors or nurses). The old hospital operating theatre complex is just one of the many interesting peeks into the past at the Wondai Heritage Museum.

Among the many other items and artefacts on display is the town’s 1924 Dennis Fire Engine, a slab barn complete with shingle roof, the ‘Vince Miller Collection’ of tools and the bugle played at the Japanese First Army Surrender to the Australians on HMAS Rockhampton. Owned and funded by the Wondai Shire Council, and maintained and conducted by a Committee of volunteers, the Museum is host to over 12, 000 artifacts and memorabilia of the past.
