Gold Coast Hinterland Great WalkMake a pilgrimage to the heart of the Gondwana rainforests and join local guides on the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Over five days, explore the mountains, waterfalls, rainforest and hidden valleys of Lamington and Springbrook National Parks. This fully accommodated tour allows you to walk the full 54 kilometre trail with extra days for rests or shorter walks. Walk from west to east through Lamington National Park, visiting waterfalls, lookouts and ancient trees. The trail continues through the farming valley of Numinbah then climbs to the curved mountain plateau of Springbrook. Staying overnight in chalets, they finish with a half day hike via beautiful rock pools to the cool spray of Purlingbrook Falls in the centre of Springbrook National Park. Gold Coast Hinterland Short BreakIn the mountains behind the Gold Coast, enjoy a two day break, short walks and visits to local villages and artists. Try some of the local produce at Tamborine, visit the historic time town of Canungra then visit a Beechmont artist for morning tea. Stay overnight at the famous mountain retreat of Binna Burra Lodge and join in the afternoon, evening and morning activities (program changes daily but includes night walks, camp fires, rainforest walks and bird-watching). Walk in the World Heritage-listed rainforest of Lamington National Park then travel to the waterfalls and lookouts of Springbrook National Park en route back to the Gold Coast. Lava Tubes to Lawn HillA unique journey across the top of Outback Queensland - a land of stony deserts, rippling grasslands, shaded lush gorges and cattle stations the size of small countries. Local guides introduce the fascinating world of Undara Volcanic National Park including the world's longest single vent lava flow. Board the historic Gulflander for a train ride from Croydon to Normanton. Journey north to Karumba, the Gulf of Carpentaria's major fishing port. Boodjamulla National Park features Lawn Hill Gorge, palm-fringed waterholes and sheer sandstone walls. Paddle canoes in the waterways, swim in rock pools and walk to viewpoints and Aboriginal rock art. Visit the Riversleigh Museum in Mt Isa; take an optional underground mine tour and experience the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. | |
