Wetlands Walkabout
Welcome to the Wetland Walkabout. This is an entirely new concept in farming the land. The aim, with your assistance, is to revegetate 180 acres of previously cleared grazing land to recreate a native bio diverse forest in the heart of Mackay city, which will become a natural legacy for their children's children to explore and enjoy.
So far they have planted 1500 flowering and fruit native trees to feed the birds, wildlife and insects. Also they have created numerous islands to provide safe breeding habitats for local and migratory birds. Replete fish stocks in waterways to increase available supplies of food for native fauna and removed feral flora such as Lantana, Pepper Trees, Para Grass, and Negura Burr.
Wetland Walkabout is a privately funded project. As the cost of replanting native forest is approximately AUD20,000.00 per hectare, the only way they can achieve their goals, is to wish your interaction. Ask the staff about becoming a Tree Guardian.
The staff hope you enjoy your exploration of this corner of your world.
