Tony and Mary Comino of Kominos Wines grow and make wine on 30 acres of vineyard on the high altitude Granite Belt (800 to 1000 metres).
Major awards won in 2006 included a Gold Medal at the New Zealand International Wine Show for the Winemakers Reserve 2005 Merlot. Also awarded the 2006 Trophy and Gold Medal for best Cabernet Sauvignon at the National Cool Climate Wine Show for the 2005 Winemaker's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, the Trophy for the Queensland exhibitor gaining the highest number of points at the Royal National Association Show in Brisbane and the Most Successful Queensland Exhibitor at the Australian Small Winemakers Show.
