Robert Channon Wines
Robert Channon Wines has produced wines of astonishing quality in just six years. James Halliday has described their Verdelho as "the best I've ever tasted". The Robert Channon Chardonnays have also been regular gold medal winners including two years in a row at the Royal Brisbane Show and the Trophy for Best Chardonnay in the Brisbane Show in 2004. An extraordinary result for a tiny Queensland winery.
For four years out of their six vintages, their Verdelho and Chardonnay have won Robert Channon Wines the Trophy for the Best White Wine in Queensland - in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2006.
All of their wines are made at their winery from grapes grown in their vineyard. 2007 will see the first vintage of their new Pinot Gris. Their red grapes include Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Robert Channon Wines is a boutique winery in the Granite Belt area of Queensland. The vineyard is at an elevation of about 950 metres and has an ideal cool climate for grape growing. The vineyards and winery are in a picturesque setting, looking over a large lake.
Robert Channon Wines are open daily for lunch and put on monthly classical concerts in their winery concert hall, "The Swigmore Hall".
