Kabi Golf Course
Kabi Golf Course was created to provide a place for recreation while preserving the environment. The organic aspect of the course makes it completely different from most other golf courses in the world.
Kabi Golf Course is a fantastic place for large or small groups to enjoy a round. There are 27 holes to choose from that cater for golfers of all standards. The course has now been open for almost four years and has matured well and is constantly improving. The par three course (18 holes) has been established the longest, with the full length Orchard 9 that has been open for over a year a welcome addition. This provides golfers with variety and also the opportunity to pull out the driver in a unique setting amongst fruit trees.
Organics is quite often a misunderstood topic. Basically, it is doing everything the way it was done traditionally. In relation to a golf course it means that no toxic chemicals or fertilisers, usually used in modern-day green keeping, are used at Kabi. The ground staff hand weed the greens and spray only things that are made naturally, such as daisy extracts and worm-based fertilisers.
Kabi's clubhouse built in 1898 by William Olds was used for his family holiday home located in Gympie Terrace, Noosaville. Like most cottages of its time it had a jetty out the front. The cottage was relocated in a condemned state in the year 2000 and has been splendidly restored to how it stands at Kabi today. The view from the clubhouse veranda over looks the first and the 18th hole and is an ideal spot for wildlife and bird watching while enjoying a delicious organic meal.
Winner of the 2004 Sunshine Coast Environment Council's Sustainable Eco-Tourism award.
