Ex "HMAS Brisbane" Dive Site
The Ex "HMAS Brisbane" nicknamed "The Steel Cat", is a Royal Australian Navy destroyer that served in the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.
Sunk in July 2005, the 133 metre long ex-warship is sitting upright on her keel, buried in sand at 27m off the coast of Mooloolaba. The decks sit in 15 metres with the ship's funnel 3 metres below the surface - open water divers can explore the top structure.
Suitably qualified divers can enter many compartments including the kitchen, engine room and boiler room. The site is a conservation park, the Ex HMAS Brisbane Conservation Park, and managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
