Lake Broadwater Conservation Park
Surrounded by cypress and brigalow, the only natural lake on the Darling Downs preserves original vegetation and nurtures many waterbirds and wildlife. Once an Aboriginal ceremonial site, the shallow, occasionally dry lake later refreshed teamsters and early settlers.
Stroll along the two kilometre track joining two camping areas. Picnic under river red gums, and discover wildflowers on two short walking tracks. Find the old dingo fence and birdwatch from the hide, near the bird nesting area at The Neck. With a permit, take your boat on the water.
