Malanda Falls Rainforest Walk

On the Atherton Tableland, Malanda Falls Conservation Park protects a small rainforest remnant. The falls on the North Johnstone River tumble over an ancient lava flow which originated from the Mount Hypipamee area, 15 kilometres away.

The Malanda Falls Rainforest Walk is an impressive short walk through a small patch of towering rainforest. There is a viewing platform for platypus and turtles by the creek.

The forest contains a high diversity of plant species, large trees and luxuriant growth forms. Near the start of the track stands a huge Queensland walnut with prominent buttresses.
