Bush Walking Full DayWith breathtaking scenery and rainforest canopies, delicious snacks and tropical fruits, great full day walks are through ancient rainforest even older than the Amazon! All walks are tailor made to the guests hiking requirements. Just a short drive from Port Douglas, this is a great option for those who have done the reef and would like to stretch the legs a little with some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of Port Douglas and the crowds of Cape Tribulation. Their fully qualified bushwalking guides will also give informative commentary about the local area highlighting history, bush foods, flora and fauna. For a more challenging day, request Black Mountain and Twin Bridges hiking trails. Picking up in Port Douglas, you travel by ferry over the Daintree River up to Cape Tribulation Beach, via beautiful rainforest boardwalks. You then Jungle Surf through the canopy of this ancient rainforest area before indulging in a picnic lunch at a beautiful tropical beach (watch out for coconuts)! After lunch it's sweet ice-cream from the tropical fruit ice-cream factory and onto Alexandra Range lookout to admire the view over the Daintree River and Coral Sea. Finally a wildlife crocodile spotting boat cruise on the Daintree River and back to Port Douglas, with the option of a refreshing river swim on the way... by far a very cool day. Sea Kayaking Half DayVisit one of Tropical North Queensland's most unspoilt and uncrowded coastal environments via fun and safe sit-on-top sea kayaks, out of Port Douglas. This reef and island area is home to a vast array of wild life, from very inquisitive sea turtles that speedily follow you through the water, to various fish directly underneath and mighty white-breasted sea-eagles riding the thermals above. If you are truly lucky whilst sea kayaking in the Coral Sea around Port Douglas then you may even see a Dugong feeding on the sea grass below! Sea Kayaking Snapper IslandLying off the mouth of the Daintree River in Tropical North Queensland, Snapper Island is one of only a few islands in this area accessible from the mainland by sea kayaks. The journey begins soon with a beautiful scenic drive past sugar cane fields, coastal beaches and the mighty Daintree River. After a safety briefing and instruction, a mildly challenging paddle awaits to take you to the island. You land on one of many idyllic beaches for a tropical lunch before beginning to explore the island coast line and aquatic wonderland, stopping in at another beautiful white sand, sun drenched beach for more relaxation. Before heading back to the mainland whilst navigating around the island, setting sail if there is ample trade wind, and coasting home. | |
