Hahndorf Farm Barn
The Hahndorf Farm Barn is a unique combination of a children's farmyard and a nature wildlife park that has been designed so that people of all ages can closely interact with a wide variety of tame and friendly animals.
On a visit to the Farm Barn you will be treated to a one-hour interactive show in the barn where you will be introduced to the Farmer's friendly farm animals one by one. We have two shows every day at 11.00am and 2.00pm or by appointment (every day except 24, 25 and 26 December).
Our show gives you the opportunity to learn all sorts of interesting and fun things about the farm animals and life on the farm. You can count Sam the Suffolk Ram's teeth. You will almost certainly see Daisy the cow being milked. You may even have the chance to try your hand at milking! And if the season is right you can watch a sheep or two being shorn.
You are free to wander around the barn and interact with our farm animals at anytime and at your own pace. We will encourage you to jump into some of the animal pens to touch and feed some of our more friendly animals. You can hold guinea pigs and baby chickens, pat miniature horses and bottle-feed baby lambs and goats. You can also say "Hello!" to Larry the Cockatoo. He is pretty cheeky and bound to answer you back!
You can also wander around our fenced Nature Park at your leisure. You can even bring along your own food for a picnic or a barbecue lunch. There is so much see and do at the Hahndorf farm Barn that it's very easy to spend a couple of hours taking it all in. You can:
Explore our three-acre Nature Park.
Bottle-feed baby goats, lambs and calves.
Observe bees making honey.
Cuddle the guinea pigs and baby rabbits.
See chickens hatching from eggs.
Hand milk Daisy the cow.
See a sheep being shorn.
Hand feed Bambi and Thumper the deer.
Meet Minnie and Cinderella the miniature ponies.
Walk with Billie the alpaca.
Count Sam the Suffolk ram's teeth.
Feed the ducks and count the wallabies.
Talk with Jaws and Bob, the cockatoos.
Photograph the pretty pheasants and peacocks.
Hand feed our kangaroos and emus.
Stare in awe at Tjandamarra the 1100-kilogram Murray Grey bull.
The Farm Barn contains a small gift shop selling beanies and scarves made from alpaca fibre/hand spun wool and rabbit fur. We carry a range of Lanolin and Lavender skin care products and sell homemade jams and honey from our beehive.
For groups of fifteen and not more that forty persons we offer an Aussie Bush Barbecue. Please contact us for further details.
