South Australian Museum
Visit the South Australian Museum for world class natural history and cultural exhibitions from South Australia and beyond. The museum is home to the largest collection of Australian Aboriginal cultural objects in the world with over 3,000 of them on display accompanied by a wealth of information.
The Pacific Cultures, Opalised Fossils, Ediacaran and Mawson Galleries, amongst other displays, enthral visitors with their fascinating stories. South Australia’s diverse and beautiful fauna will be brought into sharp focus in the South Australian Biodiversity Gallery, a new permanent display that opens in February, 2010. The World Mammals Gallery and Egyptian Room continue to be as popular with visitors today as they were when they were opened.
A vibrant program of temporary exhibitions includes the prestigious annual Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize and the world class ANZANG Nature Photography.
Purchase a piece of Australiana from the Museum Shop and refreshments are available.
