Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia Incorporated
The Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia Incorporated was founded in 1963 by a group of interested persons to further share their crafts of hand spinning and weaving through creating and teaching, has instigated the Guild in continuing its aims and objectives. The Guild formed 'Little Glory Gallery' in 1982, to offer for sale the creations of its members to the public.
On offer are a range of hand knitted, hand spun hats, beanies, scarves, jumpers, hand spun wool, dyed and natural, as well as hand woven garments in many styles, colours and patterns and fibre in various colours. The members continue to share their variety of skills in these traditional crafts, bringing new and innovative ideas into their creations.
The Guild also runs workshops by established tutors in spinning, weaving, felting, kumihimo, papermaking, jewellery and other associated crafts, including basket weaving. Ten week (ten x two and a half hours) Certificate courses are also held in spinning and weaving for beginners and advanced.
Exhibitions are also held during the Adelaide Fringe Festival and an active presence at the Royal Adelaide Show in September each year.
Groups meet on a regular weekly basis in the Guild premises and in the suburbs, as well as regional groups.
Pre loved equipment and books are also available for sale. All enquiries are welcome.
