Mary Mackillop Centre
Mary MacKillop Centre is a museum and interpretive centre, which highlights aspects of the educational and welfare work done by well-known Australian women, Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph in nineteenth century South Australia.
You will find a well set up, three dimensional exhibition entitled “What would have become of them?” and there learn something of the nature and extent of the charitable work done by the Sisters among the disadvantaged, especially women and children.
After spending an hour or so making your way around the display you can spend some time browsing among the books, videos and Mary MacKillop memorabilia on sale in the museum shop. If you wish, you can visit the nearby Mary MacKillop Chapel for a few moments of quiet reflection. This beautiful chapel, which is still in use, was erected by Mary MacKillop and opened in 1876.
