Wittunga Botanic Garden
Located in the leafy suburb of Blackwood, Wittunga Botanic Garden contains stunning displays of Australian and South African plants that are especially spectacular in spring.
Meandering pathways through the Terrace and Sandplain Gardens allow visitors to admire the many colourful, exotic and unusual bulbs. The centrepiece of the garden is an attractive lake that separates the Australian native plants featuring banksias, grevilleas and hakeas from southern Western Australia, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island, from the flourishing South African plants of proteas and leucadendrons on the opposite side.
Numerous native birds are attracted to the gardens sweet supply of nectar produced by the flowering plants. The shady lawns and beautiful lakeside setting make Wittunga Botanic Garden a popular setting for family gatherings and picnics.
Join Garden Guides every Tuesday in spring on a guided walk. Walks leave from the car park at 10.30 am. Parking available off Shepherd’s Hill Road.
