Clare in a Day - 4401

Clare Valley continues to be known as the home of Australian Riesling. As Australian wine regions go, Clare Valley is small. The stone villages are little changed from the days of the bullock-dray, and the grand pastoral properties still look out over immense rolling hills with pockets of pristine bushland. You will begin your day of exploration northward through the beautiful and historic township of Gawler. See many of the heritage-listed stone homes and buildings as we pass through the city centre and continue north to Freeling, where the famous McLeod's Daughters television series was filmed. We will pass the Gungellan Hotel and Truck stop and allow time for a quick photo. Next stop is the historic town of Kapunda where Australia's copper industry began. Paulett Wines will be your introduction to the various wine styles before lunch at the Sevenhill Hotel. After an ample country pub style meal you will stop at Sevenhill Cellars and then Annie's Lane at Queltaler for some more tastings. From here the tour continues over the range to Balaklava and returns to Adelaide via the fertile plains north of the city.
