Chateau Tanunda
Chateau Tanunda is steeped in the history of yesteryear, built in 1890 from bluestone quarried at nearby Bethany. It's an awe-inspiring place to visit, combining historic winery buildings and a stunning cellar door. The building is surrounded by vineyard and beautifully landscaped gardens, a great place to stop and relax while in the valley.
The cellar door offers the chance to try the full range of wines while surrounded by a thousand oak barrels of maturing wine. You can also enjoy a cheese platter, cake and coffee while you sit outside in the sun in summer or during winter, by the open fire. You might also have time to check out The Barossa Small Winemakers Centre, tastings of some of the wines are available each weekend. Small producers from around the Barossa, many without their own cellar doors, sell their wines through this outlet, giving you an opportunity to buy some of these boutique wines.
Stroll outside the cellar door to the stunning croquet green and have a go at this wonderful old game. Comfortable outdoor seating is available for those of you who prefer to relax away your day.
Within the historic building in the top floor are elegant and atmospheric conference and function facilities. Accommodating groups of 14 to 500 people in the Grand Ballroom, the Long Room, the Boardroom and the Sunken Garden.
Structured tastings and group bookings by appointment only at an approximate cost of AUD3.00 per person.
