Crabtree Watervale Wines Pty Ltd
Robert Crabtree produces small quantities of premium wines at Watervale in the heart of the Clare Valley of South Australia. They acquired the property in 1985 and built the winery in 1987. The grapes are grown in the thirty-five acres of vineyard surrounding their house, and the wines are made and bottled on the estate.
The Crabtrees' aim is to produce handcrafted wines of the highest quality that are enjoyable when young and have the capacity to develop and mature. The siting and care of the vineyard make the all-important starting point for this; in the winery the work is complete.
The tasting room is adjacent to the house and has magnificent views of the valley and vineyards. There are many pets including alpacas to entertain the younger members while the adults are tasting.
