Jim Barry Wines
Jim Barry graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1946 and was the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley.
Jim and his wife, Nancy, purchased their first property in 1959 on the northern outskirts of Clare. The property was part of the original estate of Edward Burton Gleeson, founder of Clare.
They established their own Winery and Cellar Door at their northern Clare property. It was the first new winery to be built in the Clare Valley for 70 years. In 1974, the first "home-made" Jim Barry Wines were produced.
