Kapunda Community Gallery
Opened in 1989 and situated in the Thomson Building in the centre of town, the Community Gallery hosts some eight exhibitions each year, comprising travelling exhibitions made available by Country Arts South Australia and collections of works by regional and local artists. Two of the gallery's major annual events are the Open Art Exhibition and the '3D' Exhibition, both of which are judged and Judges' Prizes, People's Prizes and Commendations are awarded.
In addition, in December each year, the gallery is host to works by Kapunda High School Year 11 and 12 students as part of the moderation process by South Australian Education Department examiners.
The gallery is highly respected by the arts community in South Australia and has been adjudged a Significant Gallery by South Australian Department of Arts. It sees as part of its charter the encouragement of local and regional artists. To this end the Gallery has established a flourishing drawing group, which meets weekly and holds occasional exhibitions of members' work. The Gallery is also a participant in the annual South Australia Living Artists Week during which local artists demonstrate their skills and techniques.
