Deep Creek Conservation Park

Camp in a spectacular bushland settings on the Fleurieu Peninsula with kangaroos and other native wildlife or hike one of numerous trails that take in stunning coastal views of Kangaroo Island – all just a 90 minute-drive from Adelaide.

Steep cliffs, secluded beaches, dense heaths and forests and one of the largest remaining areas of remnant vegetation on the Fleurieu Peninsula make Deep Creek Conservation Park a nature-lovers’ paradise.

If you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale making its way along the coast from June to September. Or see Western Grey Kangaroos as you stroll along walking trails, particularly at Tapanappa, Aaron Creek and the Park Headquarters.

For the intrepid, the park offers some of the most challenging and inspiring bushwalking in Australia (including sections of the 1200 kilometre long Heysen Trail), from steep hills that plunge down to stunning beaches to more gentle walks found in other areas of the park.

Five campgrounds are available offering a range of facilities. Cottage, homestead and retreat accommodation is available in the park at the award-winning Ridgetop Retreats, while surrounding towns offer shops and other services nearby.

Be prepared for changeable weather. In summer temperatures can be hot so pack plenty of drinking water, a hat and sunscreen. In winter, pack waterproof and warm clothing.
