Coorong And The Lakes One Hour TourDeparting from Strathalbyn we head south along the western shore of Lake Alexandrina passing over the townships of Milang and Clayton en-route to the Murray Mouth. We then head southeast to discover the natural beauty of the Coorong National Park. The wetland lagoons of the Coorong are teaming with marine and bird life which is protected from the relentless crashing waves of the Southern Ocean by a 100 kilometre long narrow strip of spectacular sand dunes known as the Younghusband Peninsula. The peninsula appears to stretch as far as the eye can see. The absence of roads and the shallow depth of the Coorong have acted as a natural barrier to European settlement of this pristine coastal strip. As we fly over the dunes you will easily pick out emus and witness the shell middens which mark generations of Ngarrindjeri occupation of this area. We follow the Coorong down to the Eastern edge of Lake Albert where we head north for Meningie. We follow the Eastern shores of Lakes Albert and Alexandrina. Upon reaching the point where the Murray River flows into Lake Alexandrina we track to the west flying over the Langhorne Creek wine region and returning to Strathalbyn. Operates: By arrangement Country Meets City One Hour TourDeparting from Strathalbyn we track north west over the Bull Creek Range taking in the leafy village towns of Macclesfield and Echunga. We fly over the Onkaparinga River where it flows into Mount Bold Reservoir. As we crest the lush green Mount Lofty Ranges you will be struck by the stark contrast of the suburbs of Adelaide, neatly laid out in front of us, and wedged between the Mount Lofty ranges to the east and the cool blue waters of Gulf St Vincent to the west. Upon receiving our clearance from air traffic control we will track directly for the centre of Adelaide and conduct an orbit of the parklands which surround the city centre. We then track west for Henley Beach and set course to the south whilst flying low level along Adelaide's finest beaches. We continue coastal until we reach Maslins Beach where we will increase altitude. We will then track east over the top of the McLaren Vale wine region. We will crest the Sellicks Hill Range, fly over the Kuitpo Forest and then commence our descent back into Strathalbyn. Operates: By arrangement. Murray Mouth And Coorong 30 Minute TourDeparting from Strathalbyn we head east and fly over the Langhorne Creek wine region before heading south along the western edge of Lake Alexandrina. Take in the panoramic views of the Lower Lakes and Coorong. Once we reach the mouth of the Murray River we head west along Goolwa beach where, if you keep a sharp look out, you are sure to spot a variety of local marine life – from sting rays, seals, dolphins, sharks and, during the season, whales. After tracking west along Goolwa beach it is time to turn north and head home over the top of the Marina at Hindmarsh Island and the historic port of Goolwa. Our flight path takes us over the wine region of Currency Creek and home to Strathalbyn. Upon landing you will be personally greeted by the winery owner or head wine maker and treated to a private tour and complimentary wine tasting followed by a sumptuous three course meal with matching wines.
