Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens

Follow 12 kilometres of walking tracks through the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden, a 250 hectare property with different arid zones showcasing beautiful, hardy but delicate, arid land flora, bird and animal life.

Here, you can gain a better understanding of arid land plants and their environments. The garden is committed to research, revegetate, preserve and conserve arid land flora and animal life and to show you what you can grow in your garden.

One of the garden’s features is Australia’s largest Eremophila Garden, which contains more than 120 species, many of which are rare or endangered. There are also two bird hides with interpretive signage and plenty of seats placed along the many walking tracks.

See excellent displays in the interpretive centre, with a full range of Australian-made products in the gift shop. Stop by the Bluebush Café, an up-market licensed coffee shop, where you can take in the views of the Flinders Ranges overlooking the Eremophila Garden. Choose from homestyle foods including the popular Quandong Pie and Outback native foods.

Tours are conducted Monday to Friday at 10am, however weekend tours and tours for large groups are held at other times and by arrangement.

The visitors centre houses the WMC Herbarium-Meeting Room that can be hired for meetings or as a fully catered conference facility.

Entry to the garden is free, while there are various prices for tours.
