Iga Warta offers a unique opportunity for visitors to experience Adnyamathanha, Aboriginal culture, living, sharing and learning in an Aboriginal community setting. Iga Warta means place of the native orange tree in Yura Ngawarla, the language of the Adnyamathanha people, the traditional owners of the area. Iga Warta is set amongst the magnificent mountains in the Northern Flinders Ranges and is owned, managed and staffed totally by Aboriginal people.

Adnyamathanha Social History 3 Hour Tour - IW06Visit sites and listen to what has happened to our people since non-Aboriginal people came to our country and learn about issues including the Missions, pastoralists, rations and the changes to our people's lifestyles at Iga Warta. Art Painting 2 Hour Tour - IW08We have a resident Aboriginal artist from Coober Pedy at Iga Warta and she offers sessions in her people's traditional art forms. Again visitors are given the opportunity to make their own special souvenir as part of these sessions. Artefact Making 2-3 Hour Tour - IW07Visitors to Iga Warta have the opportunity to try their hand in the ancient art of artefact making. They can make a boomerang or clapping sticks, which they can then take home with them. Visitors find this a very therapeutic pass time and many spend hours making their special souvenirs. Climbing Iga Warta Hill 4 Hour Tour - IW10Climb Iga Warta Hill on this guided walk which includes interpretation of plants as you climb up through the Gorge. Native Plant Walking 90 Minute Tour - IW03This Iga Warta tour teaches the visitor about traditional plant use in terms of food and medicine and they have the opportunity to taste foods in season. Ochre Pit 2 Hour Tour - IW04With Iga Warta visit the ochre pits and learn about the importance of the ochre, its uses and the significance of the different colours. Red Gorge 5 Hour Tour - IW05Red Gorge is the 'gallery' of engravings dated at some 90,000 plus years old that is a very special and spiritual place to the Adnyamathanha people at Iga Warta. Visitors will enjoy the peaceful and serene surroundings, whilst on the quite walk and on their return through the Gorge as the Adnyamathanha Guide shares the interpretation.
