The Cheese Factory Meningie's Museum Restaurant
Come and enjoy the ambience of the Cheese Factory where history and culinary delights await. We have a warm wood fire in winter and air conditioning in summer. For business, pleasure or just passing through you will find great food, friendly people and interesting history.
The community run museum has a varied collection of artifacts from all over the district, ranging from rocket parts to commodes, old telephones to cow pats, cheese making equipment to tractors. Most pieces are on loan from community members. See where milk really comes from, how cheese is made and some of the other industries that support the people who live in Meningie, the Coorong and surrounding areas. The museum showcases the variety of people who live or have lived in Meningie and the way they survived and thrived. You may even find some of the things you used as a younger person.
Come in to our restaurant and see the historic tables, including our red gum table weighing one point seven tonnes and all the artifacts on display. Stay and enjoy the ambience, freshly brewed coffee or a glass of fine wine. Meals are available to cater for all tastes and budgets. Of special note is the local produce including seafood, dairy products and wines.
Tourist information is available and we are most happy to help you have a great stay in Meningie and surrounding districts. Our promise is, if we don't know we will find out.
