You can meet Stephen Everingham the resident artist at the Goanna Hill Gallery which is located at Paringa in South Australia.
Stephen was born at the Murray Darling junction at Wentworth New South Wales. Descending from ancestors of the original mixed gentry and convict stock of the 1788 period moved to Renmark in 1963 and to Paringa (Renmark East) in 2002, overlooking the Mundic wetlands.
Stephen has a passion for the environment and believes in good management of the river systems and the dry lands.
Drawn to paint from a creative conviction and purpose and inspired by the spectacular and uniqueness of the surrounding drylands and riverscape areas, the fauna and flora and the labyrinth of the pioneering historical significance that lies in the not so distant skeletal past.
Stephen also paints portraits.
He likes to work in the mediums of oils and watercolour with a representative attitude, a window in time style that has been developed over the trials of living projects of life connected to the here and now.
