Renmark Swimming Centre
The Renmark Swimming Centre is located on the corner of Fifteenth Street and Cowra Street at Renmark. The third side of the complex is bounded by Ral Ral Avenue and the fourth side abuts the Renmark number three oval complex. The centre is housed on several acres of land all of which are planted to lawn and covered by over 100 trees and 13 palms.
Enclosed in the centre are three separate pools. The central pool is a 50 metre eight lane Olympic pool being one metre deep at the eastern end and two metres deep at the western end. At the end of the main pool and separated from it by a garden and a row of palm trees are two smaller pools. The intermediate pool is .75 metres deep and is restricted to children under eight years of age and half of this pool is shaded. Along side is the toddlers’ pool, which is only .25 metres deep and is completely under shade. This pool is restricted to children five years and under.
The Renmark Swimming Centre houses the only outdoor waterslide in regional South Australia. The slide is approximately 50 metres in length and is an attraction to schools and community groups from all over the Riverland. The waterslide operates on weekends prior to and post school holidays and every day during the holidays, if patronage and weather conditions permit.
The complex also houses a nine hole mini golf course, which adds to the attraction of the centre. The golf course is available whenever the centre is open. Patrons are catered for with aquatic balls, car tyres and large tractor tubes, in the pool for entertainment, as well as a fully stocked kiosk supplying hot food, confectionaries, drinks and ice creams.
A basketball ring is provided on the side of the waterslide and there is ample room for social and school groups to play cricket and other activities requiring a large space. The complex houses an amplifying system incorporating seven speakers through which music can be played, catering for any occasion.
The Renmark Swimming Centre offers more options with the three pools, water slide and mini golf than most other regional centres and all the attractions are located in very pleasant and relaxing surroundings.
The centre opens on the last Sunday in October and closes on the last Sunday in March.
