Cottages at Tarraleah
The Cottages at Tarraleah are Art Deco-style one-to-three bedroom cottages in Tasmania’s central highlands. The 1930s cottages have been refurbished but their original warmth and charm remains: original Art Deco furnishings along with Tasmanian fine furniture design, polished floorboards, warm fires, queen-size beds and a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area.
Each cottage has television, DVD, electric blankets and laundry plus a 1930s-style kitchen with 21st century appliances, of course. And be prepared, there is always the risk of the resident wombats snuffing around your back door.
There is a minimum of two nights stay.
The Highlander Arms serves local beers and home cooking, and Teez Café is the place to go for great coffee and breakfast - each is only a five-minute walk away.
You can also enjoy fine dining at Wildside Restaurant with four-course gourmet meal and an extensive list of more than 300 wines.
The Highlander Store has essential luxuries and necessary supplies, plus fuel, Internet and telephone.
The Cottages at Tarraleah offer history or wilderness tours, or you can play golf, try trout fishing, head out mountain biking or kayaking on a secret lake. The Estate has wildlife and waterfall walks plus an estimated 80 bird species.
British consumer magazine “Holiday Which” rates The Cottages at Tarraleah as one of the best places to stay in Tasmania.
