Platypus Cottage is on a large cattle farm, with a cherry orchard, great if you’re staying in the cherry season! Explore the bushland and breathtaking views of the southern midlands and across to Mt Field National Park and south to Mt Wellington. Take a stroll beside the river and you may have a chance to see a platypus. A short drive will take you to the pristine rainforest and alpine areas of Mt Field and surrounds.
Platypus Cottage is an ideal and friendly stopover between Strahan and Hobart, and a perfect base to experience Mt Field National Park, along with the beautiful Derwent Valley, Lake St Clair, Lake Pedder and the historic towns of the southern midlands.
