Glen Clyde House

Glen Clyde House is a gallery, gardens and café at Hamilton, in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley. Hamilton is an hour’s drive northwest of Hobart (70 kilometres).
The award-winning Glen Clyde House is a restored, convict-built 1840s coach inn. The craft gallery, which stocks only Tasmanian-made items, displays the work of over 100 local artisans. You can choose from a range of art and craft including pottery, leatherwork, woodcraft made from Tasmanian specialty timbers, and ironwork. Original artworks in oils, watercolours and pastels are also available.
You can stroll through the extensive English-inspired garden, or enjoy freshly prepared meals in the café. Sample fresh Tasmanian produce by the open fire, or dine alfresco on the broad verandah with a glass of fine Tasmanian wine.
Hamilton, a classified historic town, has retained much of its original colonial architecture. Stroll around the town and visit some of its significant historic buildings including St Peters Church (1838), the Old Schoolhouse (1856) and the Hamilton Inn (1834).
