Curringa Farm - Hamilton Sheep Centre
Curringa Farm is a working merino sheep farm near Hamilton in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley. The property is a short drive west of Hamilton (three kilometres/two miles) and an hour north west of Hobart (75 kilometres/47 miles).
Curringa is a 300-hectare/121-acre property, running 3,000 merino sheep for fine wool production. You can take a tour to explore this thriving Australian farm, see farm dogs working a mob of sheep and visit the wool shed to watch the shearers at work. Curringa Farm has a strong ecological focus and has won several awards for sustainable farm management practices. During your tour you will learn about best practice farming techniques and be invited to participate in Curringa’s intensive tree planting and native vegetation conservation program.
You will also be treated to a delicious country-style lunch - including tender scotch fillet steak cooked to perfection on the wood-fired barbecue, crunchy garden salad and new potatoes, following by tempting desserts and hot tea and coffee. Morning and afternoon tea and vegetarian meals can also be provided by arrangement.
Curringa Farm tours cater for a minimum of 10 guests and take between two and three hours. Bookings are essential.
