Lake St Clair Wilderness Resort offers cruises on Australia’s deepest freshwater lake. Lake St Clair is two and a half hours north-west of Hobart (178 kilometres/111 miles), at the southern boundary of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
Lake St Clair Wilderness Resort is located on the shores of Lake St Clair – a 200 metre-deep freshwater lake that reaches 17 kilometres/11 miles into the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Departing daily from the Resort jetty, the Ida Clair offers ferry and cruise services on the Lake. You can cruise to Echo Point to see stunning rainforest or journey to Narcissus Bay, the end point of the six-day, 65 kilometre Overland Track—a world-famous bushwalk through the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. You can also visit Pumphouse Point on the Lake’s south-eastern shore for breathtaking mountain views or take a sunset summer cruise for a touch of romance.

Guided Trout Fishing TourEnjoy superb high country angling in the land of 3000 lakes where you can see wild brown trout lurking in the clear pristine waters. Professional guides offer specialty fly fishing state-wide, including transport by four wheel drive or boat, meals, tackle and equipment. Trolling and spinning from a six metre half-cabin boat is also available. We are based at beautiful Lake St. Clair, the only fishing centre in the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. Select from a large range of flies, hire a rod or boat. Accommodation is at Lake St. Clair, or elsewhere depending where you decide to go. The newly built alpine lodges at Lake St. Clair are very comfortable, there is a licensed restaurant and a general store. Daily activities are arranged for the non-angler.
