The tavern offers fine dining in the Shearwater Restaurant and arguably one of the island’s best views from the bar. The view stretches across Franklin Sound, studded with picturesque islands. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere with open fireplaces and soaring ceilings. The Tavern Bar serves hearty counter meals and a take-away option is also available.
While you are on the island, book a boat charter and discover the excellent fishing opportunities off shore, or cast a line in from one of many unspoilt beaches. Plan a bushwalk in Strzelecki National Park with its extraordinary jagged peaks, just a short drive away. You can also visit Wybalenna Historic Site and the Furneaux Art Gallery, providing intriguing history about the island.
Flinders Island is a 45-minute flight from Launceston or Melbourne.
