Schouten House
Schouten House is a heritage-listed guest house at Swansea on Tasmania's east coast. Swansea is an hour-and-a-half drive from Hobart (134 kilometres) and Launceston (133 kilometres).
Built in 1846 and now a local landmark, this restored Georgian inn offers six queen-size suites. There are four upstairs rooms, each with antique half-tester beds and private ensuites. These rooms can also be configured to a single or twin share. Two downstairs suites have four-poster beds and separate bathrooms; one caters for families with an additional single bed and room for a cot. All rooms have their own sitting areas and views of the surrounding parkland or sea. Continental and cooked breakfast is served in the dining room, and guests can enjoy complimentary port by the open fire in the guest lounge. Complimentary, freshly brewed tea and coffee and home baked treats are also offered to guests on arrival. Other services include tour bookings, guest laundry and some office facilities.
Swansea is an hour’s drive from the Freycinet Peninsula. Here you can unwind on white sandy beaches, join a sea kayaking tour, or indulge in the best Tasmanian produce and fine wine in a local restaurant.
