Barton Retreat is spacious three-bedroom accommodation on a waterfront reserve an hour's drive from Hobart Airport.
Tastefully furnished throughout, the property features a lounge room with a cathedral ceiling and wall-to-wall windows taking in garden views that extend to the water. Leadlight windows in the bathroom add a soft ambience to the spa. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher and large refrigerator, and the dining area seats eight comfortably.
The tariff allows for up to six people in the main house. A separate bunkhouse equipped with video and digital video display makes a great kids’ retreat or, at additional cost for linen, accommodation for two extra people.
Orford is a pleasant seaside town popular for pretty Spring Beach and its proximity to the prolific wildlife and colonial heritage of Maria Island, which you can visit by passenger ferry from nearby Triabunna. Close to Orford, take the scenic short-cut to the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site, the Wielangta Forest Reserve, where pockets of rainforest and towering blue gums surround a bridge made of impressive logs. An easy walk through the forest takes you to the foot of the bridge, where you can view its interesting construction.
