Solomon Cottage
Solomon Cottage provides delightful bed and breakfast accommodation in Evandale, northern Tasmania.
Step back in time to an old 1838 bakery attached to a general store, now converted to comfortable colonial accommodation and tea rooms. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with a three-quarter size bed and a single bed. A comfortable living room with cosy open fire separates the bedrooms, with the main bedroom on an elevated mezzanine level.
Traces of the old oven remain in one of the snug bedrooms of Solomon Cottage. The cottage is decorated with colonial furniture and set in a lovely old established garden. The spreading walnut tree was planted last century to shade the overheated baker and his assistants.
Relax in the peaceful sitting room with its cheerful fire and delightful views across the Great Western Tiers. In the morning start the day with a delicious light or cooked breakfast and wander around the beautiful old village of Evandale, renowned for its antique shops, restaurants and Sunday market. Return for a snack in the Solomon Tea Room and try the homemade jams, marmalades and sweets.
Evandale is located just 20-minutes’ drive (15 kilometres/nine miles) south of Launceston.
