Lakeview Cottage
Lakeview Cottage offers self-contained, heritage accommodation at Oatlands, in the Tasmanian Midlands. Oatlands is an hour’s drive north of Hobart (84 kilometres) and an hour and twenty minutes south of Launceston (117 kilometres).
Built in 1827, Lakeview’s original sandstone cottage has been fully restored and refurbished. The property can accommodate up to 10 guests and features a wood fire, underfloor and gas heating and electric heating in each of the bedrooms. Lakeview Cottage also has a fully-equipped, modern kitchen and laundry, a bathroom with a luxurious bath and new beds and linen.
You can explore the Lakeview property's historic buildings including the stables, barn and shearing shed – which once housed a family of ten in the loft. Dry stone walls and a convict-built stone well add to the rustic charm.
Oatlands has one of the finest concentrations of Georgian architecture in Australia. You can stroll through the village to see heritage-listed buildings including the Callington Mill and the convict-built courthouse and gaol. Browse through the craft shops, relax in a local tearoom or take a ghost tour after dark.
