Dr Harry's Hobby Farm and Clucky Chook Cafe
Dr Harry’s Hobby Farm is situated in Relbia just outside Tasmania’s northern city of Launceston. For six years this was the home of the popular television show ‘Harry’s Practice.’
The farm boasts an ever expanding collection of animals including horses, Siamese and Burmese cats, Rex rabbits, guinea pigs, coloured sheep and their lambs. There are also dogs including Scarlet, Dr. Harry’s border collie. Wilma the pet pig can usually be found up to her elbows in mud. You can touch and feel all the babies in our animal nursery.
There are over 30 rare varieties of poultry. Watch eggs hatching and sneak a peek at a chicken growing inside the egg. The property is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from October to April inclusive. After the tour you can enjoy a light refreshment in the café overlooking a scenic lake with wandering ducks and geese. Souvenirs of your visit are available and you are welcome to stroll around the two hectares (five acres) of garden that complement the farm and savour the perfume of over 1000 roses. Good walking shoes are essential and of course your camera!
Relbia is about 15-minutes’ drive (12 kilometres/7.5 miles) east of Launceston.
