Barton Cottage has six ensuite rooms offering double, twin and family accommodation. The two-storey cottage is decorated in period style with canopied brass beds in some rooms, and antiques throughout. All rooms also have televisions and remote controlled air conditioning. A cooked breakfast, including fresh Tasmanian produce, is also included.
The Coach House sits behind Barton Cottage with a courtyard garden and direct side access from the street. It sleeps up to six guests with a double and two single beds upstairs and a double bed downstairs. The upstairs bedroom has views of Mount Wellington. Breakfast provisions are supplied in the kitchenette.
Built by Captain William Wilson in 1837, Barton Cottage is Australia's oldest licensed bed and breakfast property. It is a short walk to Hobart’s waterfront, Salamanca Place and the Saturday Salamanca Market. Explore the heritage buildings of Battery Point, originally a colonial fishing village. Drive to the summit of Mount Wellington, 1270 metres above sea level, take a river cruise or explore Hobart’s shops, cafes and restaurants, galleries and theatres.
