Barrack Street Colonial Cottage is a quaint 1830’s cottage in the heart of historic Hobart.
This tiny brick one bedroom cottage has a log fire downstairs and a romantic attic bedroom upstairs. Provisions for a hearty breakfast are provided.
You could just stroll the city streets, admiring the colonial architecture in sandstone, and round Sullivans Cove admire the fishing boats and yachts tied up in the small docks. A little further on is Salamanca Place, with fine art galleries, craft shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There are tours to the summit of Mount Wellington, with breathtaking views over Hobart and the majestic River Derwent. Or take a longer tour to the historic country village of Richmond, or the beautiful Huon Valley and D’Entrecasteaux Channel.
Cruise on the river to Cadbury’s chocolate factory, and buy an after-dinner treat or two. There are many good restaurants serving delectable meals made from Tasmania’s renowned produce, and all within walking distance. Or you might like to prepare dinner in your modern cottage kitchen. Buy some fish straight from the ocean, a few local vegetables and fruits, a crusty loaf, some King Island cheese and cream. And of course you already have your after-dinner chocolates.
