Island Cycle Tours
Since 2002, Island Cycle Tours have been operating guided cycling tours along both Tasmania’s east and west coasts. Choose from a program that suits you – active bike and hike tours, moderate cycling experiences or the Mt Wellington Descent.
Active tours include biking and hiking for beginners to intermediate cyclists and energetic travellers. Small groups of 6-16 stay in comfortable private accommodation with yummy breakfasts and lunches included on our 3, 5 or 8 day excellent value for money itineraries.
Moderate tours are more challenging, however still perfect for those that like to cycle 50-80km per day for 5 or 10 days. All trips are fully supported with quality accommodation, and time allowed for sightseeing and stopping often to savour a coffee or wine. The emphasis is on fun and enjoyment of the ride with no obligation to ride each section.
Island Cycle Tours also operates the famous Mt Wellington Descent, a must-do activity for visitors to Hobart, this is best way to see Hobart, and have a fun time doing it!

Active - 3 Day East Coast BeachcomberThis journey along Tasmania's entire east coast is a must for the traveller with a need to be at one with a place. And the east coast is enchanting - every twist and turn provides another holiday snap. The north east is truly one of the most understated places in Tasmania. It has long stretches of pure white beaches, fabulous geological rock formations and hidden secluded bays. Hiking: The walk along the beach at Bay of Fires is stunningly beautiful and peaceful, plus you'll also have time to really explore the Freycinet National Park with a walk to the famous Wineglass Bay. Cycling: The bike ride from St Marys' to St Helens on day 1 is a fantastic way to start the trip (35km), followed by as much of the St Helens to Bicheno route as you like (40-75km). On day three ride from Bicheno to Coles Bay (29-40km). Touted as Australia's most famous landscape, the Cradle Mountain National Park and its land of a thousand lakes is a massive swathe of wilderness just aching to be explored. Hiking: on day 1 you'll explore Mt Field National Park with its many and varied trails involving tall trees and waterfalls. On day three you'll immerse yourself at Cradle Mountain, taking your choice of the walks there, possibly even the summit! On Cycling: on day 2 you'll have the chance to ride alongside the man-made Lake Plimsoll amidst the ancient landscapes of the wild west coast to Tullah. From the top you'll see far up the Derwent Valley, down to the Southern Ocean and across to the Tasman Peninsula, the site of Port Arthur Historic Site. After a safety briefing and bike fitting, you start your thrilling downhill descent. The landscape changes from a wild alpine terrain to forest, and there are lookouts along the way. The winding mountain road takes you down to the foothills where you can choose to try some off-road cycling. This is great for the adventurous at heart, and takes you to Cascade Gardens where we enjoy a well-deserved rest and quick snack.
