The pace is relaxed and the picturesque scenery of the northern D'Entrecasteaux Channel just slips effortlessly by! Along the route is an interesting Atlantic Salmon Farm and more often than not, a curious seal! Includes: light refreshments. Seven Day Port Davey "Wilderness on Water" Sea Kayaking Expedition TourThis trip is Australia's ultimate multiday seakayaking experience, however it is appropriate for experienced wilderness campers only. This trip makes use of the Forest Lagoon Standing camp on only the first and last nights, all other nights are spent low impact wilderness camping. The ability to camp anywhere affords these groups the flexibility to take advantage of weather windows that enable the safe exploration by kayak of the more exposed waterway of Port Davey. South West Tasmania World Heritage Wilderness Kayaking and Walking ToursPort Davey and Bathurst Harbour are true wilderness waterways; there names give a hint to failed aspirations of the past, for this is a place where wilderness has prevailed! The Forest Lagoon Standing Camp is situated 20 minutes by small boat or one hour by kayak from Melaleuca airstrip, that allows convenient access to this remote waterway by light aircraft. The trips include two spectacular 60-minute flights over Tasmania's jagged mountains and along its rugged south coast, geographical barriers that isolate this wilderness. Sheltered on the southern shore of Forest lagoon is a unique wilderness base from which Roaring 40s run their activities in the Southwest. This standing camp is established each November and dismantled again in April; it's the only facility of its kind in the Southwest National Park. During the summer the camp creates a comfortable and environmentally friendly haven from which small groups can explore and experience this spectacular area. The camp accommodates just 10 guests and boasts a rainforest dinning shelter, comfortable tents and modern toilet facilities. From this camp Roaring 40's offers two and three day sea kayaking expeditions, and a three day walking trip. Includes: Flights into/out of Melaleuca, food, camping and paddling equipment. | |
