"Hell's Belles" Comedy Theatre Show TourThis unique comedy theatre restaurant show is a must-do evening activity for any group, providing a barrel of laughs, authentic history, and a great entertainment. Especially designed for coach groups, but also suitable for Probus and general clubs, the show is provided at the hotel/motel that the coach is staying at, or can be arranged at a venue of the group's choice, or in a historic property, or even on a cruise boat. The show is provided by actors in costume between the courses of the evening meal, and – while greatly entertaining – does provide a genuine insight into the history of Hobart and Tasmania generally. Convicts, free settlers, ship's captains, a brothel-keeper and other characters are brought to life in a winning mix of fun and history, all from the comfort of the dining chair. An excellent group activity for the evening! Battery Point Walk TourBattery Point has unique charm, with small artisans' cottages and grand homes. Arthur's Circus, created by Governor Arthur in the 1830's, delightful gardens, water vistas, Shipwright Arms, and St. Georges Church, make this dreaming old quarter a delight to explore. Hobart Historic Walk TourThis classic must-do tour, provides a great introduction to Hobart's history and orientation of the city today. Guides explain the heritage listed buildings, still such a visible part of the city, together with stories of characters and issues that were major influences in those early days. Old Hobart Pub TourLearn about Hobart's underbelly while you enjoy a drink at two old taverns. In between, hear about other pubs, brothels, smugglers, convicts, alcohol and some rip-roaring characters who all played a part in this story of a murky but fascinating past. Finishes in Salamanca. Not recommended for children. Pathways to Paradise TourPathways to Paradise is a condensed version of the ‘Hell's Belles' show, for school students. The music and sound effects will bring the Convict Days alive, the costumes are genuine designs of the period, and the stories of Captain Kelly (known as the “father of whaling”), the assigned convict servant Mary, and the Thornleys who came as free settlers in 1817, are accurate and carefully researched. The insight afforded by “Pathways to Paradise” into the history of early Hobart is presented with a touch of comedy to keep the audience interested and involved. | |
