Penitentiary Chapel Ghost Tour operates ghost tours of the old Penitentiary Chapel and Criminal Courts, in Hobart.
The Penitentiary Chapel and Criminal Courts is one of Tasmania’s oldest and most historic buildings, started in 1831 to the design of the famous colonial architect John Lee Archer, it was to be a chapel for the adjacent Prisoners Barracks. In 1860, two wings of the buildings were converted for use as criminal courts.
Tour the mysterious court rooms, tunnels and gallows in this 1830s colonial convict building by flickering lamp light. Hear true stories of strange happenings, mysterious sightings, unexplained occurrences, murder trials and grim executions.
Tours starts 8.30 pm most days and takes about an hour. Bookings are essential.
