Church Studio Franklin
Church Studio Franklin offers unique heritage-listed accommodation in the historic town of Franklin, southern Tasmania.
Inside the church, built in 1860, a beautifully designed architectural structure known as the ‘Pod’ has been constructed. The Pod has a double bed on the mezzanine floor, offering views out of the original church windows across the village green to the Huon River. Underneath the mezzanine bedroom, is a modern bathroom with a generous sized bath, shower and a separate toilet. Also integrated into the pod is a kitchenette with provisions for a continental breakfast. The old Vestry is a separate room on the ground floor appointed with a queen-size bed and may be booked independently or in conjunction with the Pod.
Sink into the leather armchairs and enjoy the warmth of the large wood fired heater. Just outside you will find cafes, antique shops, the Wooden Boat Centre and the Palais Theatre. Franklin also provides an excellent base for walks in the world heritage listed areas of Tasmania’s south. Church Studio Franklin, as its name implies, also has art studio facilities. By arrangement, guests can be provided with qualified tuition in drawing, painting and printmaking.
Franklin is a pleasant 50 minute drive (48 kilometres/30 miles) south of Hobart.
