Crabtree House and River Cottages provide heritage-listed self contained accommodation at Grove in southern Tasmania.
Crabtree House and River Cottages are situated in a peaceful setting overlooking Sleeping Beauty mountain, at the gateway to the Huon Valley. Choose from two apartments, The Heritage Suite and The Loft, as well as two Federation-style cottages. The Heritage Suite is situated within Crabtree House, a heritage-listed 1840s homestead. It has a luxurious queen-sized bedroom, kitchenette, open fireplace, leather lounge and flat screen television. Guests can enjoy freshly laid Crabtree organic eggs and local bacon, fresh milk, local apple juice and plunger coffee. The Loft offers the same comforts as The Heritage Suite, but accommodates up to four guests. It has a classic dining table, spacious bathroom and large entertainment deck.
The River Cottages, named Emily and Eliza Cottage, are built in the same federation architectural design as Crabtree House. Both have very high vaulted ceilings, large decks with barbecue and verandas overlooking Crabtree River an active playground for platypus and trout, and the pastures beyond are home to wallabies and the odd Tasmanian Devil. Both cottages are self-contained with a kitchenette and the delicious Crabtree breakfast provisions.
Grove is just 25 minutes’ drive (40 kilometers/25 miles) from central Hobart.
