Huon Franklin Cottage
The Huon Franklin Cottage offers bed and breakfast accommodation at Franklin, in the Huon Valley. Franklin is a 40-minute drive (45 kilometres) south of Hobart.
The Cottage has two queen-size, ensuite bedrooms, decorated in heritage style with brass and iron beds and antiques. Both rooms have views of the Huon River. Continental breakfast is served each morning in the dining room or on the balcony and guests can choose from an extensive menu for lunch, morning and afternoon tea and dinner. The property is licensed and a small selection of wines and spirits are available. Other facilities include an outdoor spa - guests are provided with fluffy Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobes and spa slippers - and a mini gym. The cottage can also accommodate guests with a disability.
Established in 1804, Franklin was the first settlement of the Huon district and was a significant 19th century river port. Visit the Wooden Boat Centre, which teaches traditional skills of wooden boat building to craftspeople from all over the world. Take a jet boat ride on the Huon River, tour the local fruit farms, or browse through the craft shops and galleries to see world-class work by local artists.
