Huon Valley Woodhouse
The Huon Valley Woodhouse, in central Huonville, specialises in Tasmanian-made furniture and home wares. Huonville is a 50-minute drive south of Hobart (48 kilometres) in Tasmania’s Huon Valley.
At the Huon Valley Woodhouse, you can choose from a range of handcrafted furniture and home wares. The showroom features a selection of contemporary and traditional designs by local craftspeople. Tasmanian specialty timbers are a feature of many of the pieces, including myrtle, sassafras, blackwood, Tasmanian oak and the coveted Huon pine.
There are a number of skilled craftspeople and artists in the Huon Valley and D’Entrecasteaux Channel area. You can see more fine woodcraft at the Southern Design Centre at Geeveston, or visit Enchanted Woods at Castle Forbes Bay to watch a local wood turner at work. At the Woodfired Pottery in Glen Huon you can see the work of potter John Martin and the Regnan’s Gallery at Peppermint Bay, near Woodbridge, displays quality Tasmanian art and craft.
