Backpacker Hub
Launceston’s city-centre Backpacker Hub offers backpacker-style accommodation in Tasmania’s northern city. It is an amalgamation of the popular Tamar, Andy’s and Metro Backpackers.
Accommodation includes comfortable dormitory beds as well as private single and double rooms. There is a large shared kitchen, low-cost internet, free on-street parking and a cosy lounge area with television. Also onsite is a gelato bar, licensed retro bar, restaurant and travel information. Backpacker Hub is close to the Launceston Transit Centre. A free pick-up service from Launceston Airport is available.
The heritage-listed building is located on the North Esk River, within a short walk of the city centre and Aurora Stadium, Tasmania’s Australian Football League football ground. Enjoy live music at the pubs and bars throughout the city and take a tour of the Boags Centre for Beer Lovers. Visit the Inveresk Cultural Centre, peaceful City Park or head down to Old Launceston Seaport for a coffee in one of the trendy cafes. Plan a day trip to the Tamar Valley cool-climate wineries or relax on the grass at Cataract Gorge. Here you can ride the world’s longest single span chairlift over the picturesque gorge and walk the surrounding trails.
